Abandoned vehicle in live traffic leads to arrests, seizure of drugs, weapons in Vaughan

York Regional Police have seized drugs and a firearm and laid charges after a traffic stop in the City of Vaughan.

On Friday, Jan.  28, 2022, an officer located a vehicle that appeared abandoned in a live lane of traffic at Millway Avenue and Portage Parkway. The officer began investigating the vehicle when a male and a female came out from a nearby residence. The male was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Officers searched the vehicle and located a restricted extended gun magazine, a loaded handgun and approximately 500 grams of methamphetamine and 90 milliliters of codeine.

On Jan. 29, 2022, officers executed a search warrant at the suspects’ residence in Vaughan. Investigators located a quantity of drugs, bulk currency, digital scale and a money counter.

  • Deandre Palmer 21, of Vaughan 
  • Cinthea Chambers, 25, of Vaughan

CHARGES: 

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized 
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm 
  • Possession of a Firearm Without a Licence 
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device of Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized 
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle 
  • Possession for the Purpose – Cocaine 
  • Possession for the Purpose – Crystal Meth 
  • Possession from the Purpose of Distribution – Cannabis
