911 caller reports person being forced into car in Aurora (Update)

UPDATE: Police have concluded their investigation into the suspicious incident at Murray and Wellington early this morning without laying charges

Update, May 8, 4 p.m.: With the public's assistance, York Regional Police officers have concluded their investigation and are saying that no offence took place in the incident reported by a 911 caller earlier today.

Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking anyone with information regarding a suspicious incident that occurred in the Town of Aurora.

On Friday, May 8, 2020 at 5:50 a.m., York Regional Police were called to the area of Murray Drive and Wellington Street after receiving a 911 call reporting someone was being forced into a car. When officers arrived a short time later, the vehicles involved were gone. A second report was received by police that these vehicles may have been in a collision followed by an altercation between the occupants on the roadway.

Investigators have secured video of the two vehicles involved in the suspicious incident and are asking anyone with information to come forward. Investigators believe there were possible witnesses walking their dogs in the area at the time of the incident and are asking them to contact police.

It is believed that the incident occurred sometime between 5:45 a.m. to 5:53 a.m. The last known direction of travel for the car was south on Murray Drive and for the sport utility vehicle, was east on Wellington Street.

Investigators will continue to be in the area throughout the day canvassing for witnesses and video surveillance.
