A serious collision involving five vehicles has closed King Road in both directions from Bathurst to Dufferin streets.

York Regional Police were called at 8:12 a.m. for an accident in the area of Bathurst and King.

The collision involved "at least one transport truck and a BMW" that appear to have collided head on, said Const. Maniva Armstrong.

She said one person was unable to get out of their vehicle and was possibly suffering serious injuries.

Ornge, Ontario's air ambulance service, attended the scene to transport one person to hospital, she said. Another person was taken to hospital via EMS.

King remains closed from Bathurst to Dufferin.

Traffic is backed up in the area, and police are asking motorists to avoid the area and find an alternate route.

Further details will be provided when available.
