4 teens, man arrested after armed robbery at Aurora store

Suspects from Brampton and Mississauga, and a 16-year-old from Toronto, have been charged following the Aug. 11 robbery at a cellphone store

Five people have been charged following an armed robbery at a cellphone store in Aurora. 

York Regional Police were called to the store at 91 First Commerce Park Dr., near Aurora Road and Highway 404, at about 4:50 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11 for reports of a robbery, according to police.

Two male suspects entered the store, armed with a gun and demanded cash and phones. They filled up a bag and fled in a vehicle where the other suspects were waiting, police said.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect vehicle and it was later located in Toronto.

With the help of Peel Regional Police, five people, including one youth, have been taken into custody and face a number of charges. 

Tomar Taylor, 19, of Brampton, Jahmani Grey, 18, of Mississauga, Michael Opoku, 22, of Mississauga, and Sheanno Whyte, 18, of Brampton are facing the following charges: 

  • Robbery using restricted or prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a firearm without a licence
  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered With
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Fail to comply with judicial release order x2

A 16-year-old male from Toronto was also arrested and faces the following charges: 

  • Robbery using restricted or prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a firearm without a licence
  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered With
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
