4 men charged after victims tied up during Markham home invasion

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged four men following a home invasion robbery that occurred in the City of Markham.

On Saturday, July 25, 2020 shortly after 2 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Legacy Drive which is in the area of 14th Avenue and Box Grove Bypass for a report of a home invasion. When officers arrived, two men were seen running from the front door of the home. Officers contained the area and with the assistance of the Canine Unit, two suspects were taken into custody.

Further investigation revealed that four men had forced their way into the residence and tied up three adult victims. There were also two children in the residence at the time. The suspects assaulted one of the adults.

A short time later the two outstanding suspects were located walking in the area of Highway 407 and Ninth Line. They were also taken into custody.

Charged:
    •    Roowens Marcelin, 21, City of Toronto  
    •    Kenron Deacon Matthews-Bishop, 18, City of Toronto
    •    Zongyu Li, 21, City of Toronto
    •    Wei Hang Shi, 22, No fixed address

Charges:
    •    Robbery with a firearm

The York Regional Police Search and Rescue Unit along with the Canine Unit attended the scene to conduct an evidence search. During their search they located a handgun under a parked vehicle nearby.
