3 suspects sought following attempted carjacking in Markham

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking three suspects following an attempted carjacking in the City of Markham.

On Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022 at approximately 2:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of Macrill Road and Goldring Crescent for a report that several suspects tried to steal the victim’s car in front of a residential address.   

The male victim had been driving in a 2020 dark grey Mercedes-Benz C-Class when he stopped on a residential street and a dark-coloured vehicle pulled up beside him. A male suspect approached his vehicle with an unknown weapon, demanding the car. The victim drove off in his vehicle and was able to lose the suspect vehicle before phoning police.

The suspect is described as: Male, black, 20 to 30 years old, slim build, wearing a black T-shirt and black pants. Two other suspects were inside the suspect vehicle.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward. Officers would also like to speak with anyone who may have video surveillance or dashcam footage of the incident.
