3 men arrested after break-ins in Newmarket, Aurora, Richmond Hill

Total of 46 counts of breaking and entering laid; investigators believe the men were acting independently and not working with each other

Three men have been charged with a total of 46 counts of breaking and entering in connection with investigations into a series of commercial break-ins in Newmarket, Aurora and Richmond Hill. 

In June, York Regional Police received multiple reports of break-ins to businesses. The suspects would typically break into businesses by smashing glass, entering and stealing valuables, according to the police.

Three suspects were identified by the York Regional Police through investigation, and investigators believe the men were acting independently and not working with each other. 

On June 20, James Hastings, 33, of no fixed address was arrested in Newmarket. He was initially charged with 18 counts of breaking and entering, but has since been linked to more incidents. He now faces 29 counts of breaking and entering, police said. 

According to York Regional Police, Jonathan Power, 31, of no fixed address was arrested in Newmarket on June 22 and has been charged with 15 counts of breaking and entering.

A third man, Bruce Hardgrove, 41, of no fixed address was arrested in Newmarket on June 24 and has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering, police said.

The investigations are ongoing and police ask anyone with information to contact York Regional Police.
