3 arrested, $2.8M in stolen vehicles recovered in GTA theft ring bust

Police have dismantled a vehicle theft ring in York Region and the Greater Toronto Area.

York Regional Police, Peel Regional Police and Ontario Provincial Police began their investigation in May amid an increase in vehicle thefts in those areas.

Three people had been arrested and stolen vehicles with a total value of more than $2.8 million have been recovered, according to a York Regional Police news release.

Police also seized $30,000 in cash, police scanner devices, key reprogrammers and more than 100 master keys, police said.

More than 80 charges were laid by York Regional Police. Another 80 charges were laid by Peel Regional Police. Charges laid by York police include possession of an automobile master key, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of break-in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime, and trafficking in property obtained by crime.

Charged are Ranvir Saggi, 24, of Richmond Hill, Kuljeet Singh Sivia, 23, of Richmond Hill, and Jasman Pannu, 21, of Brampton.

One of the accused was out on bail at the time of the arrest for vehicle theft-related charges, police said.
