2 Newmarket residents charged after vehicle collides with hydrant

The South Simcoe Police Service recently laid the following impaired driving charges.

On Thursday, Oct. 27, at approximately 7:45 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Innisfil Beach Road and Jans Boulevard in the Town of Innisfil. A vehicle stop was conducted. As a result of investigation, 37-year-old Adalberto Cardoso of Innisfil was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired (excess blood alcohol).

On Saturday, Oct. 22, at approximately 12:07 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to a fail-to-remain collision where a vehicle struck a fire hydrant in the area of John Street and Colborne Street in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. As a result of investigation, [name removed] of Newmarket was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired (excess blood alcohol), fail to remain, and fail to have insurance card. [Name removed] was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The South Simcoe Police Service remains committed to road safety through enforcement initiatives, education and prevention. Driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress.
