2 men arrested, loaded gun, $75K in drugs seized in Georgina

Investigators with the York Regional Police #3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have seized drugs and a firearm and laid numerous charges following a drug trafficking investigation in the Town of Georgina.

In January 2022, officers began an investigation into a suspect who was believed to be involved in drug trafficking from a residence on Carrick Avenue.

Officers executed search warrants at the residence and arrested two male suspects. During the search of the residence and a vehicle associated to one of the suspects, officers located a loaded 40-calibre handgun and a large quantity of drugs.

The drugs included cocaine, three types of fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, oxycocet, hydromorphone, marijuana, cannabis oil, and clonazepam valued at approximately $75,000.

    •    Swaleh Sherman, 33, of no fixed address

    •    Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
    •    Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
    •    Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
    •    Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
    •    Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
    •    Possession for the purpose - cocaine x2
    •    Possession for the purpose - crystal meth
    •    Possession for the purpose - opioid x2
    •    Possession for the purpose - other Schedule 1 Substance x3
    •    Possession from the purpose of distribution - cannabis
    •    Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
    •    Fail to comply with undertaking
