2 arrested for reselling meds, cosmetics stolen in York Region

Police say items were stolen from drugstores in Vaughan and Richmond Hill before being resold at two Toronto locations

Police seized stolen medication and cosmetics while executing a search warrant in Toronto.

Two people have been charged as part of an investigation into organized retail thefts that began in Vaughan and Richmond Hill.

On Dec. 16, York Regional Police launched an investigation of thefts from drugstores in Vaughan and Richmond Hill. High-end cosmetics, hygiene items, and over-the-counter medications, including vitamins and pain relievers, were stolen, police said in a news release. Investigators identified the suspects and learned the items were being resold from a business in Toronto.

On Dec. 20, police executed a search warrant at two locations in Toronto. More than $40,000 worth of property was recovered. Police said the accused were also reselling bottles of alcohol from their business.

Thi Hong Hanh Luu, 52, and Tan Dung Nguyen, 68, both of Toronto, have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, trafficking in  property obtained by crime over $5,000, and selling/offering liquor for sale.
