18-year-old victim treated for injuries after being robbed at knifepoint

One suspect has been identified but is at large and should be considered to be armed and dangerous

York Regional Police is seeking public assistance to locate a wanted man and to identify a second suspect following a street level robbery and assault with a knife that occurred in the Town of Newmarket.

On Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, shortly before 4 p.m., officers were called to the area of Kingsmere Avenue and Ivsbridge Boulevard for a report of a robbery. An 18-year-old male victim had been walking in the area when he was approached by two men on bicycles, wearing hoodies with their faces covered. The suspects made a demand for the victim’s backpack. The victim refused and tried to run away but was followed by the suspects. One of the suspects pulled out a knife and cut the victim’s hand and then cut the backpack off of him and fled the area.

Responding officers with the assistance of the Canine Unit and the York Regional Police helicopter Air2 searched the area for the suspects, but they were not located. The victim was treated at the scene for his injuries.

Wanted:
    •    Alexander Jolly, 19, no fixed address

Charges:
    •    Robbery
    •    Assault with a weapon
    •    Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Suspect #2
    •    Male
    •    Wearing a black hoodie, dark pants and a black bandana covering his face

Mr. Jolly is considered to be armed and dangerous. If you spot him, do not approach. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

After further investigation officers located the bicycles nearby that they believe the suspects had been riding.
