12-year-old girl sexually assaulted in Aurora restaurant washroom

York Regional Police investigators have released images of the suspect and a vehicle

York Regional Police is seeking a male suspect after a 12-year-old girl reported being sexually assaulted in a washroom at an Aurora restaurant Thursday night.

The assault occurred in a restaurant at Earl Stewart Drive and Bayview Avenue at about 6:40 p.m. June 16, according to police, after a man followed the girl into the public washroom.

Investigators are releasing images of the suspect, as well as a vehicle, and are appealing for public assistance to identify him.

The man is described as Asian, of medium build, and may have mobility challenges, police said. He was wearing grey pants, grey and beige vest, a plaid long sleeve shirt and glasses at the time of the incident.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. Anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault is encouraged to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.

  • You are not in danger
  • The person who assaulted you is not present
  • There is no evidence present that may be collected by police (blood, semen, saliva, etc.). Evidence can be collected for up to 12 days after the sexual assault has occurred
  • You have access to a private email address, to which the suspect does not have access
