February 21, 1945 - December 30, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of a most loving husband, father and grandfather in his 79th year at Margaret Bahen Hospice, Newmarket, ON. Ken’s passing will leave an enormous void in our lives. He leaves behind his loving wife, Ellen, married 54 years, his devoted daughter, Val (Ken) Moorlag and his treasured grandsons Matthew, Nicholas and Kyle. Some comfort for the family is knowing Ken is relieved of the profound grief he carried with the loss of his beloved son, Christopher, they are together again.

Also, left to grieve are his sister Lois Plato, sister-in-law Susan (Robert) Wood, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends and neighbors. Predeceased were Ken’s dear parents Larry and Bea, and his younger sister Laurel as well as brother-in-law John Plato and parents-in-law, Bill and Muriel Thomas.

Ken will be fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humour (great laugh) along with his enthusiasm for his family, biking, softball, curling, gardening, crafting canoe paddles, camping, and socializing with former work colleagues, countless friends and neighbours.

A celebration of life gathering will take place on Saturday February 10, 2024 at Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St S, Newmarket, ON L3Y 3Y9. Please feel free to drop in between 1-4 p.m. All are welcome to share a memory of Ken.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in Ken’s memory to either the Stronach Regional Cancer Center at Southlake, the Margaret Bahen Hospice or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
