With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Michael (Mikel) Athanassios Tompros at the age of 98. He passed away on Monday, January 22nd, 2024, at 10:15 AM, surrounded by the love of his family, at Southlake Regional Health Centre.

Loving husband of Rosmarie Tompros (nee Sommer). Beloved father of Athan Tompros and Angie Tompros. Proud grandfather of Curtis Tompros. Michael was born in Greece to the late Athanassios and Angelika Tompros. He was predeceased by his 7 brothers and sisters.

During the tumultuous times of World War 2, Michael demonstrated unwavering courage as a member of the Underground Greek Resistance. His commitment to freedom and justice was a testament to his character and a source of inspiration for all who knew him.

Professionally, Michael led a life filled with diverse experiences, working both as a dedicated marine merchant and a skilled stationary engineer. Beyond his professional endeavors, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid wrestling enthusiast, a master at fixing cars, and a devoted family man, Michael's interests were as varied as the depth of his character.

A church service to celebrate Michael's life will be held in the coming weeks, with details to be announced at a later date. If desired, memorial donations be made to Sick Kids or the Kidney Foundation.
