October 30th, 1950 ~ September 9th, 2023

It is with great sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Patricia Lois Swirla (nee Sloan), 72 on Saturday September 9th,2023. A deeply loved wife, mother, Nana, sister, Aunt, friend, cousin, niece, and Mother figure to many.
Pat is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years Nick, her children, Mark (Kasia Kowalewski), Erin (Luke Miller) Ryan (Melissa Attard) and her cherished 6 grandchildren Tanner, Andie, Rory, Ben, Reid, and Tyler (predeceased 2022) with whom she is reunited and likely baking him a fresh batch of cookies. Pat will fondly be remembered by her ‘little’ brother Ron Sloan (Beatrice), sister Janice Hilliard (Bill) along with many nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
Pat was the ultimate Mother, there was nothing ordinary about her, she was extraordinary. She raised her children during the younger years as Nick traveled extensively, she was the keeper of the party’s that ensued most weekends at their Kahshe Lake, Muskoka cottage, she weathered the storm through the teenage years and beyond and would often count the shoes left at the front door of their home in the morning to see how many extra’s for breakfast. Never once did she complain, often lending an ear and a safe place. Pat may have left us but her legacy will live on forever. She made this world a better place, we will miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank the incredibly kind and professional Cancer Clinic Doctors & ER Nurses at Southlake Regional Hospital as well as the staff and volunteers at Matthew’s House Hospice in Alliston, ON for their care and support during her cancer journey.
Arrangements Entrusted to Taylor Funeral Home, 524 Davis Drive, Newmarket 905-898-2100.
As per Pat’s wishes a cremation has taken place with a private funeral. All Friends & Family are invited to celebrate her life on Sunday October 1st, 2023 from 2-5pm at the Nottawasaga Inn , 6015 Highway 89, Alliston Ontario,      L9R 1A4. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat’s name to Matthews House Hospice https://matthews.house/
