It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Derek Sundermann on February 8th 2022 after a tough battle with Alzheimer's.
Derek was born on December 29, 1959 to Gerda Mullerleile and Friedrich Sundermann in Thunder Bay but grew up in Parry Sound.
Derek worked at De Havilland/Bombardier Aerospace for 40 years as a materials lab technician. He loved riding motorcycles, being outside, and would never fail to put a smile on your face.
Derek is survived by his two children, Sean and Teri Sundermann. He is the beloved brother of Rudy, Ralf, and Kris. He was a great friend to many.
His goofy humor, loving spirit, and killer dance moves will be deeply missed. We love and miss you so much Derek.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of York Region in Derek's memory would be greatly appreciated.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 25 from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Taylor Funeral Home, 524 Davis Drive, Newmarket, 905-898-2100. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 26 at 2:00 PM.
Due to the current restrictions, visitation is a scheduled event with limited capacity. Guests are asked to call Taylor Funeral Home, between 9:00 AM -5:00 PM at 905-898-2100 to reserve which scheduled visitation they would like to attend.
