David passed away this past Friday night at home with his wife June by his side after a very long and brave battle with cancer and lung disease. David celebrated his 78th Birthday this past August at the Beach for one last Wasaga Beach Sunset.
David was born in Longbranch, Toronto, Ontario, on Lake Promenade, the fourth child of five, born to Eileen Morrison and Gordon Stables. David was a brother to Gerry Stables-deceased (Connie Stables), Gail Young -deceased (Mike Young-deceased), Pat James-deceased (Dee James-deceased) and Leslie Stodley/Stables-deceased (Charles Stodley).

David was husband to June Ellen (McClelland) Stables, they wed September 25, 1965 and were happily married for 57 years, just recently celebrating their anniversary at home with a take-out Keg dinner.

David was father to Janet Ellen Stables-Morrison and Stephen David Gordon Stables, father-in-law to Todd Morrison and Sylvia Stables. He was grandfather, ‘Papa’, to Belle, Ally and Brody Stables and Paton and James Morrison.
David was Son In Law to Ellen Oliphant (McClelland-deceased) and Aloysius
McClelland (deceased), brother in law to Judy McClelland (Tommy Walker) and Donna Paulo (Philip Paulo-deceased).

David and June grew up in Toronto and later moved to Newmarket in 1974 where they raised their two children, Janet and Stephen. They later moved to Aurora and then onto Holland Landing.

In 2002, they moved to 68 Monique Crescent in Barrie after their children were grown and on their own. They lived there together happily for years in their beautiful home raising grandchildren, entertaining friends and enjoying their property.

David was a butcher by trade and worked for many years at IGA and Dominion Stores as the meat manager. Later in life, he joined June in the Real Estate Industry where he worked for Canada Trust, Homelife, Sutton Group and Remax. David was well liked and respected in the business and many years later, retired from Real Estate due to his health issues.
David and June attended Cedarview CC and then Aurora Pentecostal, Newmarket CC, Trinity Presbyterian/Connexus Church and then Calvary, where they enjoyed many years of great memories with friends, serving the Lord together.

David and June loved the beach, it was their favourite place in the world. They were happiest when watching the waves and listening to the wind blow in Cape Cod, Florida, Myrtle Beach, The East Coast and of course their beloved Wasaga Beach.

David loved the Lord and serving people. He loved his wife June since they were
children themselves, growing up in Parkdale.
He loved his two miracle babies, Janet and Stephen and one of his greatest loves of all, his living legacy, his beautiful five grandchildren whom he called “the Fab 5” whom he talked about and showed pictures of wherever and whenever he could for the last 18 years!

David loved God dearly and loved others in HIS name, his calling was that of “a great encourager” and was ministering to people and sharing love even in the hospital in his final days, complimenting and joking with hospital staff and praying with other patients in his room. His spirit will be irreplaceable as he was certainly one of a kind!
David will be in our thoughts everyday as we try to learn life without him. His only wish would be that his beloved June will be well cared for, it was his last and only concern he had. It is time to rest now David, we will take it from her. May God wrap you in his holy peace and love, for all your days evermore.

David’s family would like to thank Taylor Funeral Home, Newmarket Cemetery and the many frontline workers, from paramedics to police to firefighters, healthcare workers, nurses and doctors who have cared for him during this most difficult time.
Also, to all his friends and family who have prayed for him and have shown him love, we thank you.
