It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cray Scarlett on Friday, December 30, 2022 in his 70th year. Born and raised in Scarborough, where he was educated at Sir Wilfred Laurier C.I. and Centennial College, Cray later lived in Kitchener-Waterloo, Toronto and most recently for many years in Newmarket.
A man of wide activities and interests, he was an avid sailor, curler, golfer, hockey goalie and skier, always ready with a great laugh, quick-witted, honest & trustworthy, and a true & caring friend willing to go out of his way to help. He was also a member of the Porsche Club of America, Upper Canada Region, where he enjoyed participating in driver training, race days and volunteering with their Goodie Store.

Cray’s passion has always been in motorcycles, whether riding, touring across country or helping others realize their dream of owning the perfect ride. He was a member of the Waterloo County Motorcycle Touring Club and informal ‘Rally Rats’. His favorite place has always been at the family cottage in Honey Harbour, where he worked summers as a young man, enjoying boating & water sports in middle years and even just sitting peacefully looking out at the water.

Predeceased by his father Michael and survived by his mother Bobbe Scarlett, siblings Robert (Lynne), Michelle, Christine O’Neill (Dan) and Jim (Tanya), by nieces/nephews Kendra McCrone (Derek), Katherine, John (Erin), Sean and Shannon O’Neill, Kyle, and grand-niece Scarlett McCrone.

Keeping with Cray's wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for April. Details have not yet been finalized.
