Passed away peacefully in her sleep at Bendale Acres in Scarborough on October 6th 2018. Ruth will be missed by her 3 children Catherine (Bob), Norma and Peter (Barbara), grandchildren Rob (Meghan), Diana, Daniel, Christine and Ryan and her great-grandchildren Benjamin, Thomas and Josephine. Her beloved husband Murray died in 2014. She was pre-deceased by her parents Arthur and Alice Bickerstaff and brother Arthur (Myrtle) and sister Elsie Hepditch (Gordon). Ruth was a registered nurse who qualified at Toronto Western Hospital. She took time to raise her children before resuming her career with the Victorian Order of Nurses and then the Home Care program. In August 2014, she celebrated her 60th anniversary with Murray. Special thanks to the staff on the 4th floor at Bendale Acres. Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimers Society Canada. On Saturday October 13th, the family will hold a private celebration of Ruth’s life at the Roadhouse & Rose at 157 Main Street South in Newmarket from 4 to 6 pm.
