8-Nov-1933 - 27-Mar-2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Eliza Richard (née Landry) in her 91st year on Wednesday March 27th, 2024.

Eliza was born in St Louis de Kent, New Brunswick on November 8, 1933. She moved to Toronto at the age of 17 to pursue a long hairdressing career. She then retired on the shores of Georgian Bay in Penetanguishene where the scenery reminded her of her coastal childhood. Furthermore, she was able to enjoy her French Catholic heritage.

Eliza was a loving mother to Dianne (Warren), Odette (Rob) and Michelle (Dave), a cherished Mémére to Matthew (Lena), Mark, Paul (Kristel), Carson, Taylor, Lindsay (Kassidy) and Stéphanie, a proud great-grandmother to Christopher and Layla.

She is preceded by her loving husband René and by her siblings Diana, Edgar, Marie, Emile, Bertha, Albert, Alma, Gérard, Zoël and Roseline. She is survived by her younger siblings, Yvonne, Ethel, Alice and Aurèle.

Always the life of the party, Eliza lived life to the fullest and nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her family, cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, being outdoors, skiing, gardening, going to the beach, camping and travelling. Each time we will smell homemade bread and steamed lobster, we will think of her.

We would be honoured if those who loved her could join us. Visitations will be held at Taylor Funeral Home, 524 Davis Drive, Newmarket, ON, on Sunday April 7, 2024 from 11:30am - 1:00pm and Monday April 8, 2024 from 10:00am -11:30am. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday April 8, 2024, at St John’s Chrysostom Church, 432 Ontario Street, Newmarket, ON, at 12:00pm, with a Reception to follow at Taylor Funeral Home from 1:00pm – 3:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eliza’s name can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, she can laugh at the days to come."
