It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Barbara at Southlake Regional Hospital on March 1st, 2024, in her 91st year.

Beloved wife of the late Murray Pound (2000). Loving Mother of Catherine (Larry), David (Mary), Stuart (Teresa). Dearly loved Nana of Lisa (Jeff), Mandy (predeceased 2021), Lawrence (Samantha), Steve (Leah), Michelle, Evan (Abigail). Dearly loved Grandma of Michael (Melissa), Melissa (Kevin), Jacqueline. Dearly loved Great Grandma of Sydney, Carmen, Faith, Lawrence Jr, Jake, Hannah, William, Mia, Logan and Bryson. Dearly loved Great, Great Grandma of Bennett, Heidi and one precious baby girl on the way.

Barbara was born in London, England.   During WWII, at the tender age of 5, Barbara and her brother were evacuated to Winnipeg as part of Winston Churchills efforts to save “the children of Britain”. Barbara returned home to England at the age of 12, and gradre uated as a Registered Nurse in 1954. 

Barbara met the love of her life, Murray Pound, at 16. They married in 1954 and immigrated to Canada in 1956.

Barbara will forever be remembered as a loving, loyal and dedicated wife, mother, nana, grandma, great grandma, great great grandma, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.

Barbara was an avid Sailor and dedicated volunteer for over 50 years at Southlake Regional Hospital.

A Visitation will be held at Taylor Funeral Home, 524 Davis Drive, Newmarket, on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 pm with a reception to be followed. A burial will then take place at the Queensville Cemetery on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 3:00 pm.
