Gary Phillips passed away in the comfort of his Newmarket home with his loving family by his side on April 15th, 2024, at the age of 64. He will be dearly missed by his partner Peggy Wrightson, daughter Olivia (Adam), his son Paul (Madeline), his 3 grandchildren James, Lilyanne and Frederick, his brother Peter (Leslie), niece Quinn and his sisters Rebecca and Sara. He will be missed by many others but especially his lifelong friends Bruce Patrick and Dave Hanley. He is predeceased by his father Gordon, mother Anne and brother Warren.
Gary had a deep love for music, which he was always eager to share, especially on his old vinyl records. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing his favorite songs. He would be the first to say that nothing compares to a live performance.
He liked to be active, spending his free time playing a variety of sports including pickleball, hockey, baseball, golf, cycling and frisbee golf. He was always happiest when he was outdoors. He enjoyed soaking up the sun, watching the rain fall, listening to the quiet of a still night and breathing the cold air. His garden was filled with vegetables that he loved to share and baked delicious zucchini loaves.
Gary will be remembered for his kind and helpful spirit. He would happily volunteer his time to help his family, friends and community in any way and was always up for a challenge. He was a friend to many.
There will be a celebration of his life to be held in May with his family and friends.
