31-Jan-1930 - 12-Oct-2023

The month leading up to Rinda’s death was physically and emotionally trying for her. She struggled to breathe, and her body succumbed a little more each day to dehydration and in spite of it all her stubborn little body just kept fighting. On Thursday, October 12, she was finally at peace. Her battle was over, no more suffering, no more pain, no more dementia, she could finally be with dad.

Rinda was born on January 31, 1930, firstborn of 5 children, to Poul & Jenny Poulsen in Copenhagen Denmark. Always passionate with sewing, her first job was in the clothing industry in Copenhagen and it was during this time that she met the love of her life Kell Petersen. They wed in 1952, going on to have 3 daughters, Marianne, Susie and Connie.

In 1957 Kell and Rinda had decided to immigrate to Canada and that was indeed a life changer for the family. Kell a soccer player met and developed their whole social circle around his game, while Rinda brought smiles to many hearts through her work as a seamstress. All done from home, as children we always had to be careful to not step on a pin and when this happened, she’d simply say “oh, thanks, I was looking for that pin”… and then there were the danish phrases she always used…”Du gør det forkert”, “Nu er det nok”, “Skynd dig nu”, “åh kom nu” and of course she’d often sing “det var godt godt gjord”…

Rinda and Kell were passionate about camping and in the summers when they weren’t at a soccer game or entertaining with family and friends at home they could be found camping at “Sandbanks” or in “Muskoka”. As the years progressed, their adventures included a winter home in Florida, cruises with their besties and of course their beautiful home on Pigeon Lake.

Rinda was always happiest in the kitchen and that eventually led to the beginning of Copenhagen Catering. This was a fantastic and wonderful business that kept Rinda and her family happy for years.

Rinda, always devoted to her family is Predeceased by her husband Kell and daughter Susie.
Rinda is survived by her loving daughters Marianne, Connie; son-in-laws, David, Alex and Dave; grandchildren Nicole (Sean), Kyle (Steph), Christian, Adam and Jakob (Jorian); her great grandchildren; Linden, Rowan, Juniper, John and Jansen; and her brother Hans (Margit).

Rinda had a difficult battle with her memory over the last years and we all wanted so desperately to know what she was thinking, seeing and saying. Looking at photos and old cards from birthdays and anniversaries is now playing an important role in our journey through mom’s illness.

Rinda was a strong fighter, but she is now on her journey to reunite with her beloved Kell. We know that she is free from pain and is resting peacefully with her sweet husband in their new world of dreams. Perhaps they are once again riding their 1950’s motorcycle to all the places they had visited before!

While no services will be held at this time, our family would feel honoured if you kept us and Rinda in your thoughts during this difficult time; additionally, no donations or flowers are requested at this time, we only ask that you take the time to remember the beautiful soul that she was.
