April 27th, 1949 - April 3rd, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Jill Millar announce her sudden passing on April 3, 2023, in her 74th year.

Jill will be lovingly remembered by her children Stephen (Jennifer), Chris (Cassie) and Kathryn (Adrian), and her grandchildren Liam, Maeve, Declan, Emma, Ocean, Jillian, Leyton and Isla, her brothers Kevin (Allan) and Colin (Pat), and her many nieces, nephews, and friends. Jill is predeceased by her husband Matt, and her parents Edgar and Beryl. Jill was born in Shropshire, England where she grew up and trained to become a hair stylist. Jill’s life was full of adventure. While Matt was in the Royal Air Force, Jill travelled to the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Kuwait and various places throughout England, learning about different cultures and building a family along the way.

With her young family in tow, Jill and Matt moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Canada before settling in Newmarket to raise their family. She was a loving and devoted Mum, always there to help her kids with a comforting hug, a band-aid or some words of wisdom. She loved to cook and have her family around the dinner table. While raising her family, Jill went back to school and became a Personal Support Worker, caring for countless seniors across York Region. She was very active in retirement, spending endless hours with her grandchildren, taking shopping trips with friends, and cruising around Europe with her brothers. Family and friends will remember Jill for her compassion and generosity.

Those fortunate enough to experience Jill’s dry humour will likely have many stories to tell. Please join us in sharing your favourite memories and stories. Visitations to take place at the at the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket, April 20,2023 (7-9 pm) and April 21, 2023 (10-11:30 am).
