McVEIGH, William (Bill)

Born December 6, 1934, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 4th, 2024 at 89 years of age.

Loving husband of Helina (nee Marks). Loving dad of Dan (Nicol), Len (Kim), and Rael (Rich). Proud Papa of Carly (Jesse), Sean (Stef), Kean, Sara (Steve), Rebecca, Melissa (Andrew), Clare, and Liam. Cherished Papa to his great grandkids, Evan, Theo, Deklan, Calvin, and Everleigh.

Dear brother, affectionately known as “Sonny”, of the late Irene Hackett and May Gorin. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Bill was born in Toronto, Ontario and attended Jesse Ketchum Public School, where he met the love of his life Helina (Helen) who he was married to for 65 years. Always the trendsetter, he was known to the Marks family as “Gabby”, having been the first to sport gabardine pants. They were long time residents of Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Bill will be remembered for his positive, sunny nature being the kind man who we looked up to, always smiling and happy to share a good story or joke. He was a huge Leafs fan, ever hopeful for another Stanley Cup! He loved to help renovate our homes, and the McVeigh family cottage.

Bill enjoyed relaxing with family, friends and neighbours over a pint of Guinness.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place on Friday, May 3rd, 2024 from 6-8 pm at Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St South. Newmarket, ON. Speeches will begin at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southlake Regional Hospital in Newmarket.
