Betty Magee passed away peacefully, at home, in Ravenshoe, Ontario, on July 27, 2023, in her 88th year.

Betty will be sadly missed by her six children: Susan Carrothers (Neil Hughes), Kit Carrothers, Sandy Carrothers (Ross Price), Karin Sidley (Jerome), Adam Carrothers (Lynda Smith), and Graham Magee; and her step-children Pegeen Keffer, Bret Magee, Shane Magee and Bryn Magee.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Liza Hughes, Wendy Hughes, Clara Price (Carlos Chavez), Tannis Price (Devin Hartley), Austin Price (Emily), Meg Sidley, Coady Sidley, Eleanor Sidley, Calder Sidley (Victoria Armstrong), and Connor Carrothers (Julia Brown); her honorary grandchildren Alysha Smith and Jamie Hamilton (Rachel); her great-grandson Levi Price and honorary great-granddaughters Aubrey & Everley Hamilton.

Betty was the second of three siblings, born and raised in Toronto with her sister Carol Chadwick (Brian) and brother John French. She was predeceased by her parents Ray & Alice French, her daughter-in-law Dawn Carrothers (Adam) and her sister-in-law Anne French. She also leaves behind her nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Betty loved to be at home, or at 12 Mile Lake, and her family was most important to her. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and lover of flowers. She also loved to watch and identify the songbirds at her feeders, although she was a little afraid of birds up close. She was a talented artist who had her hands full raising children and later working full-time. After she retired, she was able to devote her spare time to making jewelry which she loved and at which she became proficient.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023:
12 Mile Lake Cemetery, 1112 Chambers Rd, Minden, ON (Carnarvon) at 12:00 noon, followed by lunch at Stanhope Firefighters Community Hall, 1095 North Shore Rd, Algonquin Highlands, ON (Carnarvon) at 1:00 pm. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (heartandstroke.ca) would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left www.taylorfh.ca
