Passed away peacefully with family by his side at Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland, on Thursday April 13th, 2023 in his 91st year.
Loving husband of Ruth (nee Woessner) for 68 years. Beloved father of Ricky (Paola). Proud grandfather of Kayla, Lindsey (Dustin), Ashley, Tianna, Tommy and Daniel. Great Grandfather of Grayson and Camden. Predeceased by his loving sister Margot.
Horst was born in Stuttgart, Germany on May 5, 1932. In Germany he worked for Mercedes as an auto mechanic. When Horst came to Toronto, Canada in 1954 he immediately began working at Gailus Garage as on auto mechanic where he stayed his entire career working for Roli Gailus in Toronto. Over the years Horst and Ruth enjoyed traveling back to Germany, spending summers at their island cottage in Port Severn, and RV’ing across North America. Horst’s greatest joy was his grandchildren. He wanted to participate in all their accomplishments, he attended their sporting events, concerts, recitals, and competitions over the years.
He was a regular fixture at the hockey arenas watching his grandsons’ hockey games and practices.
