Peacefully at Waterford Retirement Residence in Barrie in her 101st year, Gertie Kerr, a wonderful lady and an encouragement to many.
Born Emily Gertrude Lilly Henshaw, she was the daughter of Charles A Henshaw and Lillie Boreham. Gertie lived in Temperanceville, Snowball, Newmarket and finally Barrie. Predeceased by her husband Arthur James Kerr (2001), daughter Judy (1973), daughter in law Lynn (2010), brother Charles T Henshaw and sister Margaret Henshaw Palin. Survived by her son Peter (Susanna), granddaughter Jessica (Bradley Fehr), grandson Adam and great granddaughter Mabel. Loved dearly by Judy’s friends, Joanne Washburn and Pat Alton Peterson, who called her Mum #2. Also loved by many nephews and nieces and cousins here and in England.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Waterford Retirement Residence, Barrie especially PSWs Evelyn and Alicia.
As per Gertie’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at York Pines United Church, 3150 Lloydtown-Aurora Rd, King, ON L7V 0G3 at 2 pm with visitation from 1:30 pm. Memorial donations to York Pines United Church or the charity of your choice. Private interment will take place at a later date in King City Cemetery.
