October 24th, 1927 - June 17th, 2023
Passed away at RVH Barrie on Saturday June 17, 2023, in her 96th year. Loving wife to Ross (deceased Jan. 2021) for 70 years. Beloved Mother of Shaun (Laurie), Kevin, Kim (Boyd), Darla and the late Dan (Susan Duivesteyn). Proud grandmother of twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Helen was the last surviving member of her family. Predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Margaret Nicholson, brothers, Ed (Wilma), Andy (Dorothy), Tim (Charlotte), Gary and sister Lenore (Pete).
Helen was a homemaker and avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables. She spent 60 years volunteering with the Catholic Women’s League in both Markham (St. Patrick’s) and Newmarket (St. Johns and St. Elizabeth Seton) Ontario. Helen also volunteered at Southlake Hospital for 30 years retiring at close to ninety.
Mom was kind, caring and loving with a profound sense of humor. (Needed for 70 years of marriage) yet a “pull up your socks” and get on with it kind of woman. Oh, how we will miss her!

Visitation will be Thursday June 22, 2023, from 11-12 pm at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, Leslie Street Newmarket. Funeral mass will follow directly after the visitation. Interment will take place Friday, June 23, 2023 at 11am at St. Michaels cemetery in Orillia Ontario.
