Gar passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe in his 96th year. He is survived by his wife Pat and children Scott (Kathryn), Lynn (Colin) and Leah (Ed), grandchildren Derek (Seanna), Kaitlyn (Greig), Colin (Danielle), Laura (Adam), Mitchell, Grant, Brendan and Matthew and great-grandchildren Aila, Stephen, Caidan, Karl and Ember, and niece Christine (Carlo). He is also predeceased by his brother Robert (Doris).

Gar was born and raised in Newmarket. As a retired pharmacist and small business owner, he taught us to be honest and hard working. He loved the family cottage, “Chucklewood”, on Sturgeon Lake where friends and family would gather often. Gar enjoyed working on projects around the house and cottage and happily helped neighbours and the kids with theirs. His dry sense of humour was always there and carried him and the family through some tough times. He certainly will be missed.

We would like to thank Hospice Simcoe, for making his last days very comfortable, the LHIN and Waterford staff, and PSWs and visitors from Daisy a Day and A Caring Heart for helping us keep him at home.

If you wish, please make a donation to Hospice Simcoe in Gar’s name.
