It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Han at home on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023.  Beloved & devoted husband to Ly Tra, Loving father to Lin, Maureen and Leeward. Cherished grandfather to Mirabel, Kiran, Zayden and Ada. Dear son of Hou & Siek Chear. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings; Janny hou, Neang, Heing, Channy Hou, Synat Hou, Varn Chear,  and Vannak Hou.

Han was born in Chroy Sdao, Cambodia. Han went to Chrouy sdav primary school in his hometown, then to Preasmonyvong Highschool in Battambang province. His parents came to Battambang to request  Abbott Temple wat Kampheng to live with monks and there as a monk student he studied Buddhism  and helped to do chores after school. After he completed and graduated Highschool, Han went to University in Phnom Penh City to study in the Faculty of Law, and into his 2nd year in the program the Khmer Rouge took over and he then walked back to his hometown. Han was an exceptional man who touched the lives of many. He escaped the Cambodian Civil War, and spent 3 years in a Thai refugee camp. He was a survivor of the Khmer Rouge Genocide and then worked with the UNHCR- United Nations High Commission for Refugees to help thousands of Cambodian Refugees find shelter and a chance at a better life in countries around the world. Latter immigrated to Canada in Ottawa to then eventually settle in Keswick, Ontario. He was also an advocate of health and fitness and always stressed the importance of it to his family and friends. Despite facing various challenges, including being a survivor of prostate cancer and major car accidents, Han remained committed to living a healthy and active lifestyle. Han also had a passion for gardening, fishing, sewing dresses and baking.

Han was an incredibly skilled man, who always seemed to know or find the solutions to any problem or task, and was always the one people came to for help and advice. He was an ambassador to the community, a loving grandfather, a devoted husband, and a father of three. He was a man of virtue who had an incredibly kind soul. He will forever be remembered in our hearts.
