“To know him, was to love him”

Born in 1929 in Port Nelson, Newfoundland, Sam passed away on June 12, 2023 in his 93rd year.

Sam will be greatly missed by his family. He was the loving husband of Marie (Wicks) for 72 years. Beloved father of Gloria (Bob), David (Nancy), and Donna (Creighton - predeceased). Very proud grandfather of Wade, Dallas (Nikki), Kyle and David. Cherished great-grandfather of Austin, Mason, Arizona and Dawson.

Predeceased by his parents, Adolphus and Dinah, as well as his sisters and brothers, Fannie (Arch), Alma (Wilson), Victor (Sally), Lester (Maude), Cassie (Basil). He is survived by his brother Clyde (Lola - predeceased) and his many nieces, nephews, cousins.

A proud Newfie who moved to Ontario to build a life with Marie and start a family. As a team they worked hard to be able to buy their own home and happily lived on Telco Crescent in Weston for 30 years. This led to many new friendships that endured the test of time. Their next move was to Bradford and once again lasting friendships were forged.

Sam loved to have fun, to dance, to fish, to hunt, to garden and to BBQ for his family and friends. There were many vacation trips to Newfoundland. He loved spending time in Newfoundland with his relatives and friends and having a big feed of lobster.

Special thanks to all the wonderful caring staff at Bloomington Cove Nursing Home where Sam spent the last two years of his life with his loving wife Marie.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 19th from 1-5 PM at Dave & Nancy Burton's backyard, 19176 Kennedy Road, Sharon, Ont. The event will take place rain or shine as there will be enclosure available.
