September 26th, 1928 - February 3rd, 2022

Mrs. Toni Agostini, aged 93, of Newmarket, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at the Newmarket Health Center.

She was born September 26, 1928, in Stoke-on-Trent, which is a city in Staffordshire England and later moved to Blackpool. She had a unique childhood as her family was highly creative. Her father Paul Thompson was a writer, and her mother Sadie Thompson was an actress who performed throughout England with her sisters Beebe and Faith in the variety musical comedy tradition. Young Toni would travel with her parents and at an early age was exposed to the magic of the theater.

Toni immigrated to Canada and settled in Toronto. A few years later she met her husband Peter Agostini, and they were married in 1957 and were blessed with three children Michael, Laurie, and Jo-Ann. Toni was a dedicated, loving mother and grandmother and gave selflessly to all of them. She had a beautiful way of supporting all of them and instilling in them the strength to find their path in life and pursue it.

Toni was an office manager for many years at Royal Star Promotions and it was here that she had the chance to use her natural creativity. She was particularly good with words and developed unique and witty advertising phrases. That creativity extended to ceramics, pottery, and she had a green thumb for indoor plants.

Toni and Peter loved to travel to Mexico, the Caribbean, and especially loved cruises. When they retired, they would go to Florida a few months a year with close friends from Toronto. After the passing of Peter, she moved to a condo in Newmarket and was an active member of the community. She was president of the condo association and loved to organize coffee mornings, potluck dinners, and the annual Christmas bizarre. She was an active member of the Newmarket senior center and loved to play shuffleboard.

Throughout her life Toni had a great sense of humor and she could naturally make you feel at ease with both her heart and her wit. She kept that to the end and was loved by all she met.
