Position for which you are running: Councillor Ward 4

Do you reside in the ward in which you are running (council candidates): Yes

Outline your background/experience (100-word limit):

As a resident of Ward 4 and lifelong resident of Newmarket, I want the residents of Ward 4 to know that I will be ready to serve them as their Councillor.  My passion for the welfare and interests for the individual as well as a municipality as a whole are exemplified through my volunteering with the Newmarket Food Pantry and as the chair of the Newmarket Sports Hall of Fame.  My role as a self-employed chiropractor has provided me with experience in budget management, legislative awareness, privacy and confidentiality issues, policy development and the ability to make informed decisions.

What are the top four qualities required to be an effective municipal representative? (4-word limit):

1. Approachable

2. Honest

3. Responsive

4. Committed

Explain why you are the best qualified candidate. (100-word limit):

My plans as councillor involve responsiveness, community safety, effective communication, fiscal responsibility, and preserving Newmarket’s small town soul.  These ideas were developed from meeting and speaking with the residents of Ward 4. I believe that a great councillor is someone who actively listens and responds to the residents of their ward.  Past experience, character traits, and knowledge can all encompass great qualifications, but it is how you use those qualifications to best represent those you serve that will determine the best candidate.  I possess the proper experience, character, and knowledge to best serve and represent the residents of Ward 4.

What are the two most important issues for your ward/constituents? (200-word limit):

After speaking with the residents of my ward I believe the various issues that have been brought forth to me cannot be prioritized.   Instead, I have discovered that each area, street, and section have their own concerns that need to be listened to and investigated. I truly think that every question, concern or comment is important and I would love to have the opportunity to exemplify this as your neighbour and councillor.

What will you do to ensure you are accountable to your constituents? (50-word limit):

The public should be informed of upcoming proposed projects through media, open council meetings, and ward meetings.  Accessibility and responsiveness of ward councillors to their residents, ensures all concerns will be noted and voiced to council.   By allowing residents to access information, councillors will be held accountable of their actions.

What is the most important issue for council/school board to address in the next term? (100-word limit):
