Canada drops to 10th at world amateur men's team golf championships

MAYNOOTH, Ireland — Canada has slipped to 10th heading into the fourth and final round the world amateur men's team golf championships.

Garrett Rank of Elmira, Ont., Joey Savoie of La Prairie, Que., and Hugo Bernard of Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Que., combined to shoot 2-under 142 on Friday in the third round (only the top two scores count).

All three players shot 1-under 71.

The Canadians, who were fifth after the second round, are 10 shots behind the leaders from New Zealand.

Individually, Savoie is the top Canadian at 8 under for the tourney, putting him in a tie for 29th. He's eight shots behind leaders Takumi Kanaya of Japan and Denzel Ieremia of New Zealand.

Bernard and Rank are tied for 37th at 6 under.
