The RBC PGA Scramble qualifier is returning to the Barrie area in June.

On June 11, area golfers will get the opportunity to take part as a team in the qualifier, which will take place at Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club.

The RBC PGA Scramble, now in its ninth year, is the largest grassroots amateur golf program in Canada, with qualifiers taking place at more than 170 locations. Winners of each qualifier get to participate in one of 13 regional finals taking place later this summer.

Winners of the regional finals will participate in a national championship at the Cabot Links Golf Course in Inverness, N.S., in the fall.

At select local qualifiers and regional finals, one spot will be given to the team with the lowest net score and one will be given to the team with the lowest gross score. Two guaranteed spots at the national final will be awarded to all-female teams.

Last year, the program featured more than 12,000 participants.

More information, including a list of local qualifiers and how to register, can be found at rbcpgascramble.com/local-qualifiers.

Registration for the Tangle Creek event closes June 1. There will be a maximum of 24 teams. The event is open to teams of four eligible amateur golfers 19 and older who have an up-to-date Golf Canada handicap.

Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club is located at 4730 Side Road 25, just west of Barrie in Essa Township.
