Charity hockey game takes to ice for East Gwillimbury youth, food banks

East Gwillimbury's first responders are taking on the Upper York Admirals U18 A in a head-to-head charity hockey game in support of local youth and food banks on Sunday, April 21.

The East Gwillimbury Fire and Emergency Services "unofficial hockey team" is facing off against the Admirals at the event from 1 to 5 p.m., puck drop at 2 p.m., at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex, 1914B Mount Albert Rd. in Sharon for the East Gwillimbury Youth and Community Initiatives Fund and local food banks.

Donations to the Youth and Community Initiatives Fund and non-perishable food items for local food banks will be accepted in lieu of entrance fees. Registration
is not required to attend.

The Youth and Community Initiatives Fund provides financial assistance to youth and elite athletes, as well as community groups and organizations wanting to provide community-based events. The program is fully funded through the Annual Mayor and Council Charity Golf Tournament in September.
