YRDSB hosts information nights for secondary arts schools

York Region District School Board’s four regional secondary arts schools are hosting information nights for families of students currently in grades 8 and 9.

Grade 9 students may apply to enter the program in Grade 10 space permitting, according to a news release.

Families will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about the four-year program that offers a package of two arts credits per year that count toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Students will receive a certificate upon completion.

Program details, attendance boundaries, selection requirements, contact information and deadlines are posted at respective school websites. Students are invited to apply to the secondary arts school that corresponds with their attendance boundary.

Information Night dates and locations:

  • Unionville High School – Nov. 1, 7 p.m., Flato Markham Theatre
  • Alexander Mackenzie High School – Nov. 6, 7 p.m., Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts
  • Westmount Collegiate Institute – Nov. 20, 6:30 p.m., Westmount C.I.
  • Huron Heights Secondary School – Nov. 28, 6:30 p.m., Huron Heights S.S.

Step 1 of the registration process opens Nov. 10 and will close Dec. 1.
