The Newmarket Home and Lifestyle show kicks off this weekend.

Central York Chamber of Commerce expects to host its biggest home show to date this weekend.

The Newmarket Home and Lifestyle show will feature more than 130 companies showcasing their products and services at the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex, 100 Eagle St. W., Newmarket, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7.

“It’s going to be our biggest home show ever, I think, both in vendors and attendees,” said Chris Emanuel, president and CEO of the Central York Chamber of Commerce. “It is 100 per cent inside, so rain or shine, it’s going to be a fantastic weekend.”

Exhibitors will highlight products from decks to decor to landscaping and wellness. There is no admission charge.

“We have such variety that there is no way someone can come and not see something they’re interested in or looking for,” said Emanuel. “This event is York Region’s biggest home show.”

One of the businesses in attendance will be A4 Group Construction Services Inc., which specializes in design and renovations for residential and commercial properties. CEO Maryam Aslanzad said she likes taking part in the home and lifestyle show.

“It’s a great place to show what we do, who we are, and be local,” said Aslanzad. “For me, being local is very important and I try to be local as much as possible. If more people know about my business, it is better for me.”

The team at A4 has been transforming outdated and impractical spaces into stunning and functional ones since 2011, she said. Projects include kitchen, bathroom, and other renovations in between for all types of clients.

“We have done some commercial projects,” said Aslanzad. “I would say a typical percentage is 80 per cent residential and 20 per cent commercial right now. We have been working on the residential part so far, but one of our works is Aurora Music School."

Backyard Pool and Spa will also showcase its products, including a full line of barbecues and designer patio furniture. They have been around since 1994 and are now located in a 13,000-square-foot warehouse in Aurora.

“The community has supported us for 30 years,” said owner Don Smith. “We have some great promotions to say thank you.”

Backyard Pools offers a wide range of services, including hot tub installations, liner replacements, safety cover installations, salt systems, weekly service, openings and closings, equipment repairs, and heater installations with a licensed gas fitter on staff.

“We’re very excited this year,” said Smith. “We’re showing off Weber barbecues and the Big Green Egg barbecues and all the new features it has to offer. That will be exciting. We’re also introducing a couple of new spas.”

The event will feature food and craft beer pop-ups and a contest to win one of five $100 gift cards to Upper Canada Mall.

New this year is an expanded marketplace in both arenas, offering arts, crafts, and clothing for purchase.

There will also be interactive activities for children, including face painting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., a hockey shootout, crafts, and a colouring contest.

“If Mom and Dad are busy trying to figure out what to buy, they’ll also be able to keep their kids busy with some crafts,” said Emanuel. “We have stuff for all ages at our home and lifestyle show.”
