York Regional Police are among the Greater Toronto Area's top employers for 2023, according to the competition that recognizes organizations and companies that are exceptional places to work.

The Greater Toronto's Top Employers competition is held annually. Applicants are evaluated on the following eight criteria: workplace, work atmosphere and social, health, financial and family benefits, vacation and time-off, employee communications, performance management, training and skills development, and community involvement.

Chief Jim MacSween said it is an honour for YRP to be recognized.

"We work hard to ensure our members are supported, have access to health and wellness programs and feel welcome and included in a professional environment," he said.

Some of the benefits that set YRP apart are health and welfare benefits and top-ups for new parents, a pension plan and retirement planning assistance, and hybrid/remote flexible working options.

YRP also focuses heavily on mental health with licensed clinical psychologists and other mental health clinicians on staff to provide members with quick access to services, training programs related mental health, and policies and planning.

This is the eighth year in a row that York Regional Police has been named one of the top employers in the Greater Toronto Area. The full list of the 100 top employers is available online
