York Region Food Network’s (YRFN) virtual fundraiser, The Charitable Chef, is moving the venue from Zoom and taking it outdoors for the summer.
Dust off your picnic blanket, reconnect with a few friends or family and purchase a ticket for The Charitable Chef. Not only will you receive a delicious experience, but you’ll also make a valuable contribution to building a more resilient and food secure York Region.
The Charitable Chef is a meal experience like no other. Our Summer Kit Series offers craft meal kits highlighting York Region’s seasonal foods. Each kit is a meal for one and includes a seasonal preserve, appetizer, main course and dessert to complete the experience. For our June kit, enjoy a fully prepared picnic meal, made with love by YRFN
Tickle your taste buds with a cheese and charcuterie board, paired with a homemade chutney as you reconnect with others in the sun. Your main dish will be a delectable asparagus-smoked cheddar quiche in a flaky pastry, served with local mixed greens topped with freshly harvested strawberries and spiced pecans. Wrap up this delightful day with a summer classic – pavlova topped with strawberries. Beverages and preserve add-ons are available to accompany your meal.
"This summer we are taking the Charitable Chef outdoors to backyards, decks and parks. We’ve all been cooped up spending a lot of time in front of our screens and we’re looking forward to some much needed outdoor time. Our kits are a perfect way to reconnect with family and friends in small outdoor gatherings. A delicious meal experience where all proceeds raised from this fundraiser will support YRFN’s essential food security programs," says Kate Greavette, executive director of YRFN.

Our work is guided by the fundamental belief in the right to food. Our innovative programs and services are designed to create opportunities for community members of all ages and backgrounds to come together, enjoy local and healthy food whilst developing valuable social networks.

• Simply purchase a ticket ($40 - $50 provides a full meal kit for one)
• Select your pick-up date from York Region Food Network in Aurora
• Find your spot outdoors to enjoy the meal
This event is a delicious way to highlight York Region’s agricultural treasures while also supporting York Region Food Network’s community food programs.
