Chief Eric Jolliffe is proud to announce York Regional Police is the only police service to be named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for Young People for 2019.

This special designation recognizes employers that offer the nation's best workplaces and programs for young people just starting their careers. The employers on the list are Canada's leaders in attracting and retaining younger employees to their organizations.

York Regional Police is among thousands of employers in Canada evaluated by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers in regards to youth programs and benefits. The editors also review each employer’s training and mentorship programs, as well as career management programs.

The following are some of the reasons why York Regional Police was selected:

  • Summer student employment is offered in a variety of fields, including Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology.  Students must be enrolled in police foundations, criminology, law or related programs and those who successfully complete their term may return for a second consecutive summer
  • A Young Professionals Internal Support Network was established in 2015 to foster a supportive work environment, break stereotypes associated with various generations, generate a forum for positive dialogue, create awareness, provide opportunities for development and promote long-term engagement
  • Our Mentor Program provides members with an opportunity to participate in a professional partnership in which an experienced member (mentor) assists another member (mentee) with developing specific skills and knowledge that will enhance the mentee's professional career path

“I am very proud of the programs and initiatives we have at York Regional Police to support our young employees and equally as proud our organization has been recognized on a national level for our efforts,” said Chief Eric Jolliffe.
