The York Chamber Ensemble is preparing for their 21st season with four shows scheduled from October to May.

The first concert is set for Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Newmarket.

The show, called Mozart + Mozetich, will feature award-winning Canadian pianist Luke Welch.

The Toronto-based musician has performed all over the world, including recitals at St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London, and Castletown House in Ireland.

York Chamber Ensemble’s concert will feature Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 20, Fantasia...sul linguaggio perduto by Canadian composer Marjan Mozetich, and Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances, Suite no. 3

Tickets for this concert will be $25 and sold online once they are available.

The next show is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4 and is called Little Night Music.

Violinist Joyce Lai will be the feature artist for the show. She is an avid chamber musician and has performed with numerous ensembles, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Szeged Symphony Orchestra of Hungary, the Canadian Chamber Academy, and the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong.

Next year, on March 26, 2022, the York Chamber Ensemble will have a show called Folk Songs in Counterpoint featuring Ian Clarke.

The violinist is a frequent guest soloist with the ensemble, as well as their concertmaster.

Finally, on May 14, 2022, young pianist Jarmin Weng is set to perform in the last show that has been announced for the season so far.

It is called The Emperor.

The York Chamber Ensemble said they are excited for live shows again after being unable to play live due to the pandemic.
