What's open and closed Thanksgiving Day

Upper Canada Mall is open Thanksgiving Monday, while GO Transit, YRT and TTC will operate on Sunday/holiday service schedules. Cachet Restaurant is showing its kindness by opening its doors to those in need.

Getting around

GO Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.  

York Region Transit and TTC routes in York Region will operate on a Sunday/holiday service schedule.

Shopping

Major malls are open, including Upper Canada MallPromenade Shopping MallVaughan MillsCF Markville Mall and Hillcrest Mall

The Beer Store and LCBO will close Thanksgiving Monday. However, some LCBO agency stores may observe their normal business hours. Check the store locator section of the LCBO website here.

Recreation

Town of Newmarket community centres facilities, including the Magna Centre, will be closed Monday. At the Magna Centre, the customer service kiosk will close at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Services

Government services will be closed, including Canada Post, with no collection or delivery of mail.

Giving thanks with food

If you're planning a Thanksgiving dinner, keep in mind most grocery stores will be closed. The Walmart Supercentre on Yonge Street in Newmarket will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Cachet Restaurant, at 500 Water St., will be closed to regular service Monday, but will be hosting its annual open door free Thanksgiving Dinner from 1 to 9 p.m. to "anyone in the community who would like to enjoy and may need some company on Thanksgiving". Tourist sites are open Monday in Toronto, including: 

Royal Ontario Museum 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Art Gallery of Ontario 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hockey Hall of Fame 10 a.m.to 5 p.m.

Ripley's Aquarium of Canada 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Toronto Zoo 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
