What's open and closed in Newmarket this Easter long weekend

Be sure to check hours for shopping, transit, municipal facilities this long weekend

Friday, March 29 is a statutory holiday for Good Friday, and while Monday, April 1 is not a statutory holiday, but is a day off for some employees. Here's a list of what is open and closed over the Easter weekend. Here's what's going on this weekend.

Good Friday

What’s open:

Malls and shopping centres in the region are open have reduced hours, including Upper Canada Mall (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Hillcrest Mall (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Tanger Outlets (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). 

Select Shoppers Drug Mart & Rexall pharmacies, including Shoppers Drug Mart at Yonge and Savage (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.), Yonge and Davis (9 a.m. to midnight), Upper Canada Mall (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.), Stonehaven (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and 404 Town Centre (8 a.m. to midnight).

Most major grocery stores are operating under limited hours as some close at 6 p.m. Check online first.

Walmart locations are operating under limited hours, including 17940 Yonge St, at Bristol Road (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and 1111 Davis Dr. at Leslie Street (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Staples, Best Buy (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Marshalls, Winners, and Homesense are open until 6 p.m.

Select Dollarama locations are operating under reduced hours.

GO Transit will be running on a Sunday/holiday schedule.

York Region Transit will be running on a Sunday/holiday schedule.

What’s closed:

Some retail stores, including Vaughan Mills mall.

LCBO and The Beer Stores.

Costco.

All municipal buildings and facilities, including fitness centres and Newmarket Library.

Magna Centre, Ray Twinney Recreation Centre, Recreation Youth Centre & telMAX Indoor Skate Park.

Scheduled waste pick-up will take place on Saturday, March 31.

Government services, including Canada Post with no collection or delivery of mail.

Easter Sunday

What's open: 

Some retail stores, including Tanger Outlets (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Some pharmacies, including Shoppers Drug Mart at Yonge and Savage (9 a.m. to 10 p.m.), Yonge and Davis (9 a.m. to midnight), and 404 Town Centre (8 a.m. to midnight).

What’s closed:

Some retail stores including Upper Canada Mall and other malls, check online for grocery store hours before going out

LCBO and The Beer Stores.

Newmarket Library, Recreation Youth Centre & telMAX Indoor Skate Park, Magna Centre and Ray Twinney Recreation Centre.

Easter Monday

What’s open:

Malls and shopping centres, including Upper Canada Mall (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.), Vaughan Mills (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.), Tanger Outlets (9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.),  and Hillcrest Mall (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.).

Pharmacies, including Shoppers Drug Mart at Yonge and Savage (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.), Yonge and Davis (9 a.m. to midnight), and 404 Town Centre (8 a.m. to midnight).

The Beer Stores open for regular hours.

What’s closed:
