Friday, June 30

Strawberry Festival, June 30 to July 2: For the Canada Day long weekend, the Strawberry Festival will be taking place at Whitchurch-Stouffville’s Memorial Park (2 Park Dr.). There will be performances, vendors, kids activities, and food each day at Memorial Park and nearby locations. Festivities run Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fireworks will be on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. More information is available at strawberryfestival.ca.

Canada Day in Aurora, June 30 to July 1: On Friday evening from 7 to 11 p.m., the town will be hosting Dance in the Park at Aurora Town Park (49 Wells St.). Saturday festivities start early with the Canada Day parade beginning at 10 a.m. and travelling north on Yonge Street from Edward Street to Aurora Heights Drive. Following the parade, there will be a live multicultural showcase and children’s activities at Lambert Wilson Park and the Aurora Family Leisure Complex from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be performances at Lambert Wilson Park from 6 until 10 p.m. when the fireworks begin.

Saturday, July 1

Tim Hortons Canada Day: Join the Town of Newmarket on Canada Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr., for a daytime concert and festival where you can enjoy rides on the Tim Hortons Express Train, face painting, food vendors, entertainment, Main Street festivities and more. Stop by George Richardson Park (Bayview Parkway) from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. for music by the Newmarket Citizens Band, a concert featuring Switchbeat and fireworks. newmarket.ca/canadaday.

Canada Day in East Gwillimbury: Festivities run from 6 to 10 p.m. at Mount Albert Lions Community Centre (5057 Mount Albert Rd.), with a live band, kids activities, a barbecue, and food vendors. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. More information is available at eastgwillimbury.ca/canadaday.

Canada Day in Richmond Hill: Canada Day festivities are taking place July 1 from 2 to 11 p.m. at Richmond Green Park (1300 Elgin Mills Rd.), with live entertainment all day as well as a beer garden, artist exhibits, and more. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. Juno Award-winning artist Kardinal Offishall will be performing at 8 p.m.

Canada’s Wonderland, July 1 to 9: It’s a week-long party for Canada at the Vaughan amusement park from July 1 to 9 (park is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; festival runs noon to 8 p.m.). The park’s big fireworks show takes place July 1 at 10 p.m. and is included with admission. The show will feature more than 6,000 colourful explosions, choreographed to music and reaching heights well over 800 feet.

Newmarket Farmers' Market: Every Saturday morning from May through October, Riverwalk Commons in historic downtown Newmarket is transformed into a vibrant market space where our community gathers to support local food. Connect with local farmers, enjoy a delicious treat, discover unique artisans or take in some live music while visiting with family and friends. Coming up: 

TD Music Series, Thursday, July 6 to Aug. 24: Every Thursday evening enjoy a free tribute band concert at Riverwalk Commons. Each concert will feature amazing local performers and a premier tribute band. On July 6, Blame It All On Their Roots (Garth Brooks, Shania Twain tribute) and The Beresfords. This year’s lineup includes a mix of country, pop, rock and soul. Be sure to bring your own lawn chair and arrive early to secure a spot. Don’t forget to bring your reusable water bottle to fill up at the Quench Buggy. Also returning is the Mercedes-Benz Newmarket Backstage Lounge food and beverage providers Mulberry’s Oven, Old Flame Brewing Company, Market Brewing Company and the North Newmarket Lions.
