Newmarket Garden Club holds its an annual sale of perennials, annuals, herbs, shrubs, indoor plants at Ray Twinney Recreation Complex, hall 2, at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Cash only, come early.

Aurora/Newmarket CFUW Bingo at Market Brewing Company, Thursday, May 25: Help make a difference in the lives and education of young women in our community by playing bingo from 7 to 9 p.m. at Market Brewing, 17775 Leslie St., Unit 4, Newmarket. All proceeds support CFUW Aurora/Newmarket's Charitable Trust Scholarship program.

East Gwillimbury Farmers Market: Every Thursday, rain or shine, the farmers market features local vegetables, artisan vendors, meat, cheese, baked goods, honey, soaps until Sept. 28 at the Civic Centre at 19000 Leslie St. in Sharon from 2 to 7 p.m. Please note, some vendors may only accept cash payments.

Night Market: The Newmarket Group of Artists and Town of Newmarket present the inaugural Night Market, a new outdoor event that combines an art show and sale, food, drink and live music. Enjoy an evening downtown and discover art that speaks to you while celebrating with Newmarket’s artists from 5 to 10 p.m. at Riverwalk Commons. 200 Doug Duncan Dr. Free admission.

Northern Heat Rib & Beer Festival, May 26 to 28: North America's largest rib and beer tour comes to Newmarket with barbecue, beverages, live music and a new kids zone and canine circus, in support of Rotary Club of Newmarket, at Upper Canada Mall on Friday 4 to 11 p.m., Saturday noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday noon to 7 p.m. Admission $2, children age 12 and under get in free.

Lorne Lofsky Benefit Concert for Inn From the Cold: St. Paul's Anglican Church hosts world-renowned jazz guitarist Lorne Lofsky, with pianist Adrean Farrugia, for a concert with all proceeds going to the shelter-building project for Inn From the Cold, at 227 Church St., Newmarket at 7:30 p.m. Lofsky is a master guitarist, and one of Canada’s great musical treasures having toured and recorded with the great Canadian pianist Oscar Peterson. Farrugia is one of the country’s most sought-after pianists and composers.  He has won two Junos, and been nominated for eight. Fleetwood Nicks & Practically Petty: Sandgate Women’s Shelter of York Region, in partnership with Benefit Show, is hosting a benefit tribute concert at Sutton District High School with Fleetwood Nicks and Practically Petty featuring all the hits from Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks, to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Proceeds benefit Sandgate Women’s Shelter of York Region. Optimist Club of Newmarket 10th Annual Poker Run for Kids With Cancer, June 10: Motorcycle riders are invited to join the ride in support of Southlake Regional Health Centre's pediatric oncology centre June 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event day begins with some light refreshments for riders, and includes two or three stops with food, and music and prizes at the end of the run. The run is open to all makes and models of motorcycles. Cost is $25 per rider and $15 per passenger. More details.

CFUW Home and Garden Tour, Sunday, June 11: Canadian Federation of University Women Aurora/Newmarket hosts its Come Be Inspired 2023 Home & Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This signature fundraising event features six homes and two gardens in Holland Landing, Aurora, Newmarket and Oak Ridges. Proceeds benefit scholarships for young women in the community. Tickets are $40
