Crews are on the scene of a water main break in Newmarket in the area of Main Street North, south of London Road.

Wanda Bennett, director of corporate communications for the Town of Newmarket, confirmed that the break was on Old Main Street between Jim Barber Court and Main Street North.

The road has been partially blocked by crews who are repairing the break, so anyone travelling through the area is asked to yield to oncoming traffic. Emergency access to the area will remain available, the town said.

Residents affected by the break have been notified directly. Bennett said there are 14 houses impacted.

She said this is not considered to be a major break. It's estimated that crews will have repairs completed in six to eight hours.
