Neighbourhood Network is inviting volunteers to come out for its annual spring tree planting event on Saturday, May 11 in Newmarket, Aurora and East Gwillimbury.

“We’re incredibly proud to have planted over 22,000 trees and shrubs through the support of hundreds of volunteers since this program began,” Erin Cerenzia, manager of community relations, said in a news release. “Concern for the environment is central to who we are and what we do at Magna. We invite community members to join us on May 11 to help us continue building greener communities, together.”

Planting site locations:

  • Newmarket: Kirby Crescent Park (325 Alex Doner Dr.)
  • Aurora: Vata Court (the entrance to the planting location is between 2 and 4 Vata Court);
  • East Gwillimbury: Sharon Hills Park (191 Colonel Wayling Blvd.)

Volunteers are needed to help plant trees, mulch plants, and clean up garbage.

High school students can earn community involvement/Christian community service hours.

This event takes place "rain, snow, or shine" from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Pre-registration for all volunteers is required and can be submitted online.
